One thousand one, one thousand two. Looking left, looking right. Getting twitchy.  One thousand three and then SHOWTIME!  Silhouette steps into frame and I take the SNAP but just as I fire, a blast of cool blue lights me up like a neon sign. Silhouette  snapped ME!  Took MY picture!

I'm a cornered rat.  I got egg on my face or more like a whole fryer on my head.  By the time I step out of the doorway Silhouette has made the corner and never lost stride, never said a word and never looked back.  At least I got snapped by a pro.

I hit review and take a close look at "Silhouette" now pictured on my LCD.  The flash from his camera is clearly visible!  For me to  have captured the burst of light meant we fired shutters at the exact same instant - within hundredths of a second!  I check the EXIF. Time 11:56 and 14 sec.

I turn back to see what the street has to offer. Two ladies walk by in step. I take the snap.

I can't say the possibility hadn't occurred to me, but never in my wildest nightmare did I think it would go down like this..

                  .. in a doorway on Broadway .

It's a Sunday morning. No action. I'm snapping pigeons - pathetic - when I see a SILHOUETTE at one end of the block and a WOMAN at the other end both heading my way.  A possible "boy meets girl" snap in the offing!  I
duck in a doorway.   A perfect vantage point to shoot from EXCEPT the sidewalk is in shade and the background is in bright light - not good- plus the doorway acts like a blinder.  I'll have no warning and only a split second to react when they show up.  If they show up!  Nothing I can do now but wait.
